2005 INDUCTEES

Paul Cook

Coached basketball at Eastern for many years.  His 1980 team won the Class A State Championship.  During his coaching career of over 40 years, his team won more than 800 games.

Walter Graff

Coached basketball, baseball, and football at Eastern during the school’s first years of competition from 1928 until 1941.  His 1934 basketball team won the State Championship.  In football, his teams won 26 consecutive victories from 1932-1934.

Kevin Jackson

Wrestled at Eastern and was State Class A Champion.  He went on to a successful career in college and Olympic wrestling winning the Gold Medal at Barcelona in 1988.  He later coached the U. S. Olympic team in 2004.

Don Johnson

Wrestling coach at Eastern between 1948 and 1957.  He had five state championship teams during his tenure and was later an administrator at Eastern.  The Fieldhouse is named in his honor.

Maro Miller

Played football, basketball, and baseball at Eastern during the 1936-39 seasons and was an All-State football player in 1938.

Thomas Petroff

Played baseball and football at Eastern during the 1940’s and was an All State Honoree.  He later played professional baseball from 1947-52 with the Yankees and Indians.

Carol Rapson

Was a leader in many activities from 1954-1957 including basketball and softball as a participant in Girls’ Athletic Association programs before competition between female athletes began.  She was an outstanding pitcher who played softball with the Lansing Laurels.

Jay Vincent

An outstanding basketball player at Eastern in the ate 70’s when he was named an All-State selection.  He went on to a successful college career at Michigan State University where they won the 1979 National Championship.  He also played professionally for many years.

1981 Girls State Championship Softball Team

The 1981 Girls Softball Team captured the State Softball Title in 1981 after compiling a record of 25-1 under Coach Jean Robinson Clum.  Members of the team were Nancy Tucker, Heather Curley, Rosie Montalvo, Lori Jolley, Linda Villarreal, Connie Torrez, Sandi Grow, Rachel Dexter, Chris Williams, Michelle Keyton, Donna Beard, Sally Sohn, Leslie Keyton, Kelly Keyton, Sue Spagnuola, and Bobbi Wing, Manager.
