2006 INDUCTEES

Bill Allen

Attended Eastern from 1950-1953 where he lettered in football, wrestling and baseball.  In 1952 he was named the MVP on the football team.  He was also Captain and State Runner-up on the wrestling team.  He was named Wrestling Coach of the Year in 1968 and was inducted into the Wrestling Hall of Fame at Owosso High School.  He was a teacher, coach and administrator at Eastern for many years.

Jack Hernly

Jack Hernly played football, basketball, baseball and ran track at Eastern when the school first opened in 1928.  He was captain of each of the teams during his senior year and was also the first senior class president at the school.  He set a state and national record of 171’8” in the javelin throw and was Student Athletic Director from 1927-1929.

Tom Jamieson

Tom Jamieson played three years of varsity tennis at Eastern and was the # singles player all three years.  He was also a member of the varsity swim team for three years and co-captain his senior year.  He was president of both the Senior Class and the National Honor Society.  While at Michigan State University he was the #1 singles and #1 doubles player.  An avid golfer, he was an All City Golf Champion and Michigan Senior Player of the Year in 1998.  He was inducted into the Greater Lansing Hall of Fame in 1982 and has been the Team Physician for the Lansing School District student athletes for over 35 years.

Kelly D. Miller

Kelly Miller played varsity baseball at Eastern in 1980 and 1981, and was also named valedictorian for the Class of 1981.  He had an outstanding hockey career at Michigan State University from 1981-1985 where he was an All American, Academic All American, and Team Captain.  From 1985-1999 he played professional hockey for the Washington Capitals and the New York Rangers.  During his 14 years in professional hockey he played in 3 World Championships, 3 World Junior Championships, the Canada Cup, and in the Stanley Cup Finals.

James P. Sinadinos

Jim Sinadinos played football, baseball and wrestling at Eastern from 1950-1952.  As a senior in 1952 he was an undefeated State Champion Wrestler.  He also wrestled at Michigan State University from 1953-1956 where he was an All American, two-time National AAU Champion and a Big Ten Champion.

Kim Worden

Kim Worden played varsity basketball, volleyball and softball at Eastern from 1974-1978, earning All-State honors in basketball and softball her senior year.  Ms. Worden played four years of basketball and softball at Western Michigan University, scoring over 1,000 points in basketball, and playing in 3 college World Series in softball.  Her career pitching record at WMU was 46-19-1 with an amazing 0.76 ERA.  She took over as head softball coach at WMU for 18 years amassing 321 wins.  In 1994 Kim was inducted into the Western Michigan Athletic Hall of Fame.

1979 Boys State Championship Golf Team

The 1979 Boys Golf Team led by Coach Tom Penrod won the State Championship, the first and only Golf State Championship for the Lansing School District.  Members of the team were Doug Mielock, Steve Wakulsky, Bill Kost and Jeff Sernick.

1980 Boys State Championship Basketball Team

The 1980 Boys Basketball Team, coached by Paul Cook, won the Class A State Basketball Title downing Highland Park 64-53.  The 26-1 mark was the best ever achieved by an Eastern Team.  Members of the team were Sam Vincent, Eric Jones, Jeff Lynch, Clarence James, Jack McEntee, Shannon Love, Gerald Potter, Jim Lynch, Robert Henderson, Jim Keyton, Herb Robinson, Ervin James, and Tom Baraberio.  Managers were Brian Kenny and Jeff Sernick.
