LANSING EASTERN ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME
2010 INDUCTEES

Jean Robinson Clum

Jean attended Eastern from 1961-1964.  She was a 3-Year Member of the Girls Athletic Association and was an officer all three years.  She played volleyball for 3 years and was Captain all 3 years.  She was member of both the Swim team and Mermaids (synchronized swim club) for 3 years.  She was a member of the Honor Society and received the Hi Y Award.   She attended Michigan State where she was a starter for three years on the Field Hockey team, a four-year starter on the Basketball team and was a one-year starter on the Softball team, the first year of the team.   She was named to the All Region Field Hockey Team her Senior year.  She returned to Eastern in the Fall of 1970 to teach and coach.   From 1973 – 1978 her Volleyball teams had a record of 70-1 and were 1st in the League all five years.  Her overall Softball record from 1975-1983 was 148-27 and in the League 100-12.  Championships included 1975-League and District; 1976-League and District; 1977-District; 1980-Softball Classic; 1981-State Championship and Softball Classic; 1982-League Co-champs and District; 1983-League and Softball Classic.  In 1981 and 1983 Jean was named the Softball Coach of the Year.

Don Feighner

Don attended Eastern from 1956 through 1959.  He was a member of the track team and pole vaulted with a bamboo pole.  In 1958 he placed 1st in the Regional Track Meet, 1st in the 6A Track Meet and helped the team win the 1st Track Championship in 25 years.  In 1959 he set a new Regional Pole Vault Record at 12’6”.  He took second place in the State Track Meet with a vault of 12’10”.  He set a new City, School and Field Record with a Vault of 13’1”.  He was the 6A League Pole Vault Champion.

Dick Fronczak

Dick attended Eastern from 1954-1957.  He competed in Wrestling, Football and Golf.  He was a State Champion in Wrestling and was named All State in Football.  He wrestled varsity at the University of Michigan.

Tim May

Tim attended Eastern from 1968-1971.  He competed in Basketball, Baseball and Golf.  In 1971 he was named All State in both Basketball and Baseball.  He attended Western Michigan University where he played Basketball and Baseball.  Tim was a long time Player, Umpire and Commissioner in the Men’s City Baseball League and he was a long time successful Coach and Teacher in the Battle Creek Public Schools.  Time was elected to the Battle Creek Area Amateur Sports Association and the Michigan Amateur Baseball Association Wall of Fame in 2009.

George Wakulsky

George attended Eastern from 1945-1948.  He was on the golf team in 1945, 1946 and was Captain in 1947.  He played football in 1945 and 1946.  In 1947 he was the Golf Medalist in the 5A League Championships.  He is the only player in the history of Golf at Eastern to play cross-handed and become a champion.    After graduation he entered the military service.  Upon completion of his military service he attend Michigan State where he played Varsity Golf in 1956, 1957 and he was Captain in 1958.  George was also the All-City Match Play Champion in 1956, 1961 and 1963; All-City Stroke Play champion in 1960 and 1974 and All City Seniors Champion in 1980 and 1981.  He is a member of the Greater Lansing Sports Hall of Fame.

1955 Boys State Championship Cross Country Team

The 1955 Boys Cross Country Team won Eastern’s First State Championship in Cross Country.  They were Regional Champions, City Champions and lost only one dual meet during the season.  Members of the team were A. Perry, Co-Captain; R. Reynolds, Co-Captain; K. Moulton, R. Powers, R. Glover, D. Gaudard, T. Chapman, H. Lampman, D. Auvenshine, J. DeBrabander, D. Hough, R. Figy, D. Brown, A. Vaillencourt, R. Hill, T. Culver, K. Burris, J. Bucks, R. Alleman, R. Pearl, R. Hill, S. Curry, R. Auvenshine, G. Manuel, S. Smith, R. Selfridge, L. Eedy, and R. Browder.  The team was coached by Frank Sudac.

Bill Land

Special Recognition Award with Thanks for His Over 38 Years of Volunteer Service as a Ticket Seller, Basketball and Football Clock Operator and Away Game Basketball Scorekeeper for Eastern High School Athletics.
